NAD+ | Optimal Health by Doc Smiley's

How is NAD+ IV therapy done?

In NAD Therapy, the co-enzyme is placed in an IV and slowly dripped into the blood stream. This allows the substance to bypass the stomach (where it would undergo first-pass metabolism) and travel directly to end organs and the brain. This can provide a boost of energy and enhance mood. The therapy must be done carefully and at a slow rate because it can be uncomfortable if taken too fast.

What is NAD+

NAD+ stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, with its reduced form being NADH. It is a complicated molecule that has different effects depending on whether it is in- or outside the cell. Intracellular NAD+ is a coenzyme of the electron transport chain in the mitochondria, a process that produces energy inside the cell. Extracellular NAD+ (outside the cell) is a signal for cell death. Because of its role as a signaling molecule for cell death, it can be uncomfortable when administered into your veins. Because the ratio of NAD+ to NADH declines with age, some have suggested benefit of adding NAD+ against the effects of aging. Some patients report benefits with energy and metabolism.
